چکیده

Energy policy is the main driver for the enhanced deployment of electricity from renewable energy sources (RES-E) as observed in several countries worldwide. It is the core objective of this paper to provide a comprehensive summary of recommendations on how to derive effective and cost-efficient support schemes for RES-E which are necessary to steer our energy system in the direction of sustainability and supply security. A prospective analysis of possible future RES support options – build on recently policy debates – at European level aims to signpost the way forward. Investigations on national support measures versus European-wide harmonized RES policies serve to identify recommendations of future RES policy designs. The issue of the effectiveness and efficiency of support schemes is discussed based on the results obtained from simulation runs using the Green-X model. As key criterion for achieving an enhanced future deployment of RES-E in an effective and efficient manner, besides the continuity and long-term stability of any implemented policy, the technology specification of the necessary support is identified.

An Overview of Hydroelectric Power Plant: Operation, Modeling, and Control

Renewable energy provides twenty percent of electricity generation worldwide. Hydroelectric power is the cheapest way to generate electricity today. It is a renewable source of energy and provides almost one-fifth of electricity in the world. Also, it generates electricity using a renewable natural resource and accounting for six percent of worldwide energy supply or about fifteen percent of th...

Should Indians Pay more for Renewable Energy Based Electricity? - The Need for Evidence Based Consumer Tariffs for Electricity in India

India seeks to achieve 175 Giga-Watt (GW) of Renewable power by 2022. As of December 2017, out of 333 GW of total installed capacity of electricity, close to 62GW come from renewable sources. Meeting the set targets calls for augmentation of renewable energy based capacities as expeditiously as possible. However, the sick financial health of the distribution companies/utilities, who act a...

Strategic Decisions for Green Electricity Marketing: Learning from Past Experiences

Green electricity (GE) has emerged as one of the most interesting instruments for promoting renewable electricity in liberalized markets, at least in theory. Indeed, some experiences have already been carried out, mostly in the U.S. and Europe. However, most of them have been largely unsuccessful. In this chapter, we look at previous surveys and studies carried out on customer response, and pro...
